The Meerkat and Martial Eagle: Predator and Prey (Giclée print - limited edition of 30)

Although the name may be misleading, the meerkat is not a part of the feline family. Rather, it is a weasel-like animal that belongs to the mongoose family. This particular family, known as Herpestidae, is made up of small carnivorous mammals that live on land. Despite their adorable appearance, meerkats have been popularised in BBC wildlife programmes. Their effective teamwork in protecting their young and caring for others serves as a valuable lesson for humans.

However, they are not without their predators and this artwork initially explored the concept of predator and prey. In this case, meerkats are preyed upon by the Martial Eagle. It may be bittersweet to witness these wide-eyed creatures being targeted, but such is the way of nature as every living being relies on another.

This connection is beautifully depicted in the painting and the original piece was sold during the online exhibition for Artists for Painted Dogs in 2022. Luckily, you can now own with a stunning high quality, giclée print.
