Lion's Eyes: Limited Edition Hand Finished Giclée Prints (20)

This limited edition hand-finished giclée print features the majestic lion with its beautiful and soulful eyes. Lion populations face unprecedented threats across multiple fronts.

Trophy hunting continues to impact wild populations, whilst the exotic pet trade fuels demand for captive-bred lions stripped of natural behaviours. Simultaneously, lions in captive settings—from zoos in conflict zones like Ukraine and Sudan to private collections—endure displacement, neglect, and trauma during geopolitical upheaval.

This limited-edition series of 20 hand-finished prints captures the majesty and intelligence of these apex predators, serving as a visual testament to their plight. Each artwork underscores the urgency of conservation efforts and the complex realities facing lions in our world today.

The original artwork was created for a charity auction for The Big Cat Sanctuary, Kent. I am donating 15% of each sale value to the Sanctuary. I saw one of their lionesses, Yuna, shortly after being rescued from a Ukrainian zoo - but from a distance. She experienced trauma, alongside the other lions from that zoo, Rori, Vanda, Amani, and Lira. Now they are in the peace and quiet of Kent, and in the expert care of the Sanctuary. Ideally, we would want these lions to run free in the wild however we do not live in a perfect world and presently, this is the best option for them.

Each of the 20 prints is individually painted with gold ink to replicate the original artwork. This print not only showcases exceptional artistic skill, but as you look into the lion's eyes, it's a poignant reminder of its vulnerability.

Giclée prints are printed digitally at a high resolution onto archival watercolour paper using pigment based inks which increases their lightfastness.

Delivery:

Shipped in a strong cardboard tube for Large/X Large and flat cardboard for Small/Medium by Royal Mail within 5 - 10 business days of order (arrival times will vary depending on customer location).
